If you can dream it you can achieve it- This tattoo is all that I love and what describes me. It is the only tattoo I would ever get because of all the meaning I put into it when I drew it. Each part is symbolic. For example, when I moved to North Carolina I endured very many problems in my home and family life financially, and so on. My English teacher had the class do a project with a word with a lot of meaning to us and a collage for it. I did a butterfly to symbolize there life transforming into a new one once it just makes it through the rough metamorphosis. The butterfly shown in the tattoo is the letter "M" in the graffitti name, Mariana. Mariana is the name I was going to give to my daughter. I chose to do it in graffitti because it represents the streets of Los Angeles where I am from. The butterfly droops into the letter "V" for my family's last name, Veloz, which meas fast because everyone in my family has grown up too fast. The vine in the shape of a moon is my favorite symbol ever. I use to gaze up at the moon no matter what terrible home or city I found myself in and just dream on about what I never imagined I could ever do. The four-leaf clover symbolizes my grandma who is someone I respect, fear, and admire more than anyone. My mother tells me of how proud my grandmother would be to see me now. She told my mom to name me Lucky when I was born...if she only knew the half of my life before she died. Finally, the clover has a ribbon or stem that has the numbers 711 on it. The numbers represent intense memories that I have had to endure and are more personal than a public art reflection on the internet. I drew this in my spare time at school on March 6, 2011.

Sobe Healthy- I created it November,2010. Media used is pencil.  I was inspired to draw this for a birthday gift

Monster Amor- Inspired by my old Battle Buddy Alfredo Salgado and our favorite drink the Monster. We would share one every day before reporting for duty once a month.  I sketched this drawing when we returned from basic training in September,2010.

Nightmares- Inspired by the classic movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Completed in October of 2010. Sally, featured in this drawing, is an icon or symbol to me of me and my friends who all love her like me. She is my favorite character.

Pretty Kitty- My favorite animal is any wild cat like this lion that inspired me to do this work of art in charcoal. I drew and shaded this image in 2008.

This is just a close up on the right half of Beowulf .

We are Siamese if you Please- Inspired by a song in my younger sister's movie called Lady and the Tramp. I've always loved cats and animation like Pokemon so I'd say this sketch in pencil definitely portrays my statements. I did this during class  in 9th grade, 2008.

I am a Martian is inspired mostly by the lyrics of Lil Wayne. Also, I first began drawing aliens with my older cousin Megan Bridges. I like to add my other favorite things to it though, like the moon and a nice car! I drew this image with pencil in 2008.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall- inspired by the two personalities a soldier has. Especially me and my other Battle Buddies that are also finishing school, like me. We have the closest bond because we have the same powerful memories of our life/death situations. Yet, we are just teenagers in high school. We keep our military bearing only in uniform and put on a completely different face for our civilian lives. This was drawn in November, 2010.

International Peace Day?-  Inspired by a confllict of interest because I know that freedom isn't free! The M-4 Carbine represents a portion of the peace symbol because it is exactly what came to my mind when I heard it was International Peace Day. I did this in October of 2010.

Li-Ming Liao- She inspired me! She was my best friend in 2010 while visiting Croatan High School as an exchange student from Taiwan (the friendliest country).  It was her birthday gift and I never used a pencil once on this. I was scared to ruin it with the sharpie marker, but she seemed to love it and appreciate it very much so I am a proud artist! It was done in March of 2010.

Epic Beowulf Poem- inspired by a scene in the poem that mentions the treasure in the scene and the Dragon awoken by the Goblet thief. Beowulf protected the Geats and killed the dragon but couldn't live after the fight when the dragon's tusks stabbed his neck. I used charcoal and gold glitter glue to make this image in February of 2011.
